About
Here are some FAQ about CSTS:
Q: What is CSTS?
A: Cant Stop the Serenity is a series of screenings of Joss Whedon’s move “Serenity” organised across the globe by fans, to honour his birthday, raising money for his favourite charity, Equality Now. For more info, go to www.cantstoptheserenity.com
Q: What is CSTSANZ?
A: Simply put, we decided that we could reach more fans and provide them with a better experience if we pooled our resources and knowledge, so the organisers decided at the end of 2007 to form CSTSANZ to facilitate this.
Q: How many years has CSTS been running?
A: 2008, marks the third year of this event.
Q: How much money do you expect to make from this?
A: Whilst we don’t have the numbers of the big cities in the USA, Australia does have a large population of browncoats. In 2007, 3 Australian cities and one NZ city raised over $5,500 for EN, and our goal is to break $7,000 in 2008, and hope another city/town will join us and hold a screening. Over the last 2 years, CSTS has raised over US$160,000 for EN, and the goal is to raise almost that much again in 2008, which is no small drop in the bucket to EN’s yearly funds.
Q: What is Equality Now all about?
A: Equality now is a Charitable organisation based in the USA and a number of third world countries which was brought to life by Joss Whedon’s Late mother, Lea Sterns. Their purpose for existing is to bring about Equal and just treatment of the sexes around the globe. The fight to make sex trafficking illegal everywhere, and urge african countries to abandon the old traditions of female genital mutilation by means of educating the people and the government. Q: There’s not a screeinng in my city. Why not?
A: Essentially it comes down to one of two reasons. There doesnt appear to be a big enough population of browncoats in the area to support a screening, or a volunteer hasn’t stepped forward to run the event. If you’d like to run an event, or help out with one already planned, please email us at csts.anz@gmail.com
