Can’t Stop the Serenity Charity Screenings

Despite Simon sleeping in and waking up only as he was meant to be in town getting the BBQ, and us frantically trying to work out how and where to get it from, and setting up with one less person than planned, we managed to be ready to sell by 11:10am, with many people just waiting for us to have them ready.

We hit our next problem when it looked apparent that we would sell out of the 200 suasages we’d brought with us by 12. I jumped in my car and drove up to collinswood and cleaned out the foodland there of suasages. these managed to last til just after 1, where we sold out, despite the number of people who came looking for food after this, and wanting to buy our lunch.

We didn’t have anyone come and buy merch or tickets, but we do think we’ve got another table put together, so at least it looks like there will be at least a few tables at the quiz night. All in all, it was a fun time, if somewhat stressing for perfectionist and control freak me, and we made a little more than $350 to go to our CSTS fund. Add this to chocolate money and we’re so close to being in the black, if not there already, which is great.

We are already talking about holding the next BBQ ASAP, and making sure to order enough suasages this time.

Hoping you’ve all checked out the exam timetable and are organising tables. We want to make it a rather stellar evening.

Tickets are now on sale. $5 for the movie $10 for the quiz night, or $90 for a table of 8-10 people.

We have a few QMx packs that we ordered on top of preorders, but only a few, so if you want one, get in quick. $20 is a bargain

Tshirt preorder deadline is the 16th of May. That’s only 4 days away! If you want to ensure you get a 2008 t-shirt, you need to preorder. we’ll only have a couple of the most common sizes ordered on top of that. Same goes for posters.

Our Chocolate selling fundraiser is in full swing. If you’d like to help out, you’ll need to pay in advance for your choccies, and then we can arrange for you to pick them up for you to resell. $24 for a half box and $48 for a full box.

Our first BBQ will be held this coming tuesday, the 20th of May, outside the Mayo cafeteria (just inside the campus from the victoria drive footbridge) at Adelaide Uni. We’ll be there from approx 11-2, So follow your nose and come pick up a plain snag in bread for $1, one with onions for $1.50 and cold drinks for $1.50. You’ll also be able to directly buy 2007 merchandise and 2008 tickets.

Our prizes are seriously starting to gather. We have, to name a few: Serenity better days comics, signed Cast member photos, Multi cast signed convention program, DVD box sets, collectors edition, novel, unopened packs of trading cards, and Angel and Buffy comics. We’ll have more to add to our list of prizes in the next couple of weeks, but we are going to be giving away a door prize for every attendee this year, plus a raffle, and most likely an auction as well.

Pick up last year’s merchandise at bargain prices as well as preorder 2008 merchandise.

Please be aware that only a very small handful (ie 1 or 2 or the common sizes) of merchandise will be ordered additionally to the preorder numbers, so if you want one, preorder by May 15th! (If you cant afford one right now, please email us and we’ll sort something out so you don’t miss out)

2008 Posters and Women’s tshirts may be added to the options over the next few days as i get confirmation of their availability.

Our Request for licencing has gone into Roadshow, and we should hear back soon, but having talked to the rep, there should be no issues.

Our first lot of Cadbury Choccies has almost sold, and we’re revving up for another order. So if you’re interested in helping out with that, please email us, or post in the fundraising thread in the Adelaide forum.

BBQs are looking most likely for 2008 fundraising. These will be held at Adelaide Uni over the next few months. If you’re keen to help out, email us.

So. This year we will be having t-shirts and posters printed globally once more. However last year we way over ordered, and will only really be ordering what people preorder this year. So if you know you want one of these. Let us know and we can make sure it gets ordered. Unless it causes problems, I’m happy to let you order them now and pay for them at the event. If you want them prior to the event, if they get in early enough we can ship them if they’re paid for.

T-shirts should be about $20-25, I’m hoping for the lower end.

For men’s shirts sizing should match this pretty closely (these are in inches, body width is from armpit to armpit across the chest)

This year we are hoping to offer women’s shirts as well, so do let us know if you’re interested in these. Unfortunately the t-shirt we are looking at using for the women’s style is what they call junior sizes and for bust size only goes up to 20.5 inches we are looking into using a different t-shirt, but no guarantees. Let us know if you’re interested in a women’s tee, and we can let you know what gets decided.

We would like t-shirt preorder numbers sorted as soon as possible as this helps us work out the price, as if we hit a new order no bracket, the price goes down and that can be passed on to you all. However, final orders are needed by May 6th.

And lastly. We are being given the special offer of being able to buy Quantum Mechanix Alliance Bank Heist Money kits to sell directly to you.

We will most likely sell these for $20 each (they’re selling at expo events in Au for up to $45). So you would be saving on getting them shipped from the US, and the little difference in the US/AU dollar. However I do need numbers for these ASAP. So if you want one, get back to me by Fri 28th so I can get the order in.

We will also have left over stock from last year put up on the website for sale at some point for a discounted price. So keep an eye out for that!

We will be selling Cadbury chocolates for a few months leading up to the night of July 4th, and a few weeks beyond.  This can be a big fundraiser if many people are willing to help sell the chocolates. if you are interested in helping with this, you will need to nominate if you want a box or a half a box, and be prepared to pay for them ($24 for half a box, $48 for a full box) upon pickup.

You would then keep the money from selling them. so if you have a tea room at work, a staff room, work in a shop or whatever, and think you can help us out, please contact me.
