Can’t Stop the Serenity Charity Screenings

Last year Adelaide held a winter appeal collection at their screening. This year this concept has been taken on board by the CSTSANZ events and become the Browncoat Winter Appeal.

If you’re planning on attending an event, please bring one (or more if you like) of the following:

tin/jar of non perishable food (ie canned fruit, spaghetti, baby food)
Beanie, scarf, gloves
jacket, jumper
Blanket, quilt

if you are donating clothes, please make sure they are either new or in good condition.

last year Adelaide had a massive donation of these things, and we hope to be able to have a similar number of items from each city. This is our way of making the CSTS events benefit both local and international community.

Due to a booking error, the BBQ for next week has been cancelled, or rather postponed until next semester (not much point holding a BBQ when there are no students at uni to buy the suasages eh?)

Keep an eye out on the adelaide page over the next few days as we start putting up the fabulous prizes you can win/items we have for auction.

If you do not wish to buy tickets online, for whatever reason, you can either buy your ticket at the door (should be fine for the movie) or organise a time when you can come into the medical school at adelaide uni (i’m usually here 7 days a week) for quiz night tickets. alternatively if you are booking a full table, an email will suffice and you can pay on the night.

the winter appeal Adelaide started last year has spread to become an ANZ Browncoat winter appeal. if you’re planning on coming, please bring one (or more if you like) of the following:

in an endeavour to get the word out as much as possible about our event, we’re going to get you all involved in some guerilla marketing.
Get the word out about our event (legally!) and you could win a QmX money pack or a set of Serenity Better Days comics!

How to win. Email us and we’ll send you our poster files and handout files. Put them in a place you think will be visited by people who would want to come to the event. Or create a banner for a website (include date, venue, prices, supporting Equality Now and the CSTSANZ website. Be aware that strict COPYRIGHT laws apply to ALL serenity and firefly images including the ship and cast), get the event pimped on your local heavily populated social forum, be creative, aim to misbehave

Take a photo or a screenshot and email it in. We’ll have 2 winners. one for physical posters/handouts, and one for online marketing. Winners announced at the event.

Our next fundraising BBQ will be next tuesday (June 3rd). So come along and say hi, buy a snag, chocolate, drink, or Equality Now Wrist Band. You’ll be able to buy 2007 merchandise directly from us, as well as tickets for the event.

Our 2008 merchandise has been ordered, so if you want any merchandise youll need to email us, to sort it out, or hope there’ll be some left on the night.

It looks like we’re already in the black for this year, so everything now is pure donation to Equality Now, which we’re incredibly proud of. There’s no better feeling in the world than knowing no matter what now, you’re going to raise money for a charity. We have a city goal of a $2000 donation whis year, up $500 from last year, and we feel that with everyone’s support, this is definitely feasible.

Also, if you want some posters or handouts to put up at your work place (uni campuses are slowly being covered) we can organise to get you some, or to send you the files so you can print some yourselves.

Sydney are definitely holding an event this year.  At this stage it looks as though it will be held in September but more details will follow so please keep checking this site for info.
