Can’t Stop the Serenity Charity Screenings

Hey! Just wanted to let you all know that CSTS Melbourne has been able to access a special discount for parking for those planning to drive to the event on Sunday. Given the price of petrol, I wanted to help save you some extra cash so you’ll have more to spend / donate on our goodies!

The Kino Dendy Cinemas have a special offer for parking which is also available for CSTS patrons. You can park at COLLINS PLACE carpark, Flinders Lane (enter via Spring St) and receive a discount with your ticket - the first 2 hours of parking is absolutely free, after which it is only $2 per hour (max 6 hours). Present your parking ticket at the box office to receive your discount. Physical tickets will be issued at the event - we’ll have a table set up in the cinema foyer from 2.30pm for tickets / merch / etc.

In addition to raising funds for Equality Now, this year all the Australian and New Zealand CSTS screenings are having a “Browncoat Appeal” - an appeal for practical items to support our local community. If you’re coming & you can spare something extra, please bring one (or more if you like) of the following:

* Non-perishable foods in tins / jars

* Warm winter clothing eg Jumpers / Jackets / “Browncoats”, etc

* Blankets / Quilts

If you are donating clothes / blankets, please make sure they are either new or in good condition. This appeal is optional but all donations will be gratefully accepted. All donated items will be given to relief agencies on behalf of CSTS Melbourne.

Today we reached 10,000 hits and 20,000 page views at www.cstsanz.com it’s quite an achievement, and we’re very proud. But of course we couldn’t have done it without you guys.

With just little over a week til the event, the usual panic is setting in. However, this year we are already well into the black, and we have a number of people pledged to come along.

That being said, With so many people now pledged to come, i am beginning to wonder if i have enough goodie bags. Ideally I’d like to have one per person, but it may be the case that only those who have preordered or booked their tickets that will get these bags and then first come first served after that.

The raffle will be drawn inbetween the movie and the quiz night (or perhaps just after the first round), so those wanting to enter that will need to stay around. likewise for the auction. We will have photos signed by nathan, adam, alan, morena, and summer as well as a poster signed by Jewel, a vol 1 firefly visual companion signed by Tim Minear AND Joss, as well as a flanvention (the one that happened) program signed by multiple BDHs, that could all potentially be auctioned off due to their value. so If you want one of those, bring your wallet/purse as the most likely accepted form of payment will be cash on the night.

Global swag has arrived, as have the t-shirts and posters, and my house is beginning to resemble a collectibles store!

If you plan on coming to our Adelaide event but have not yet booked a table for the quiz night, please use the comment form to let us know. if you plant o attend the quiz night but don’t have a table worth of people, let us know that too, as I have to tell our venue how many we need pretty soon. and if you are attending just the movie, tell us that too!

The Perth event has been cancelled, with reasons cited as being beyond their control. Hopefully more info will be available soon.

We would like to make it clear that this post was made against the wishes of global and Equality Now itself. B!x does not have all of the facts, which cannot be revealed to the public until the investigations are finalised. So please, DO take this post with a pinch of salt. No city in Australia or New Zealand has EVER had any issues with the money being donated to Equality Now, and many have signed an agreement stating their commitment to this of their own volition. We hope this will not affect how you feel about CSTS, as you do not yet have the whole picture. All will be revealed when we are able to do so , and have ALL of the facts.
